Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Structural (Bridge) Designer/Drafter to join our team in Denver!
In this role, you'll work on transportation infrastructure projects, with a focus on bridge design.
This role is based out of our downtown Denver office, and offers the flexibility to work a Hybrid schedule after approximately six months.
In this role, you will perform design/drafting assignments that range from basic to moderately complex, requiring a working knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques.
You will also assist with file management, compiling plan sets, and organizing design documents for submittal.
We are seeking someone either straight out of school or with up to 5 years of experience, those with additional years of experience are encouraged to apply.
While experience with Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) or (BIM) is preferred, candidates with a willingness to learn BrIM are encouraged to apply.
Main Responsibilities:
Utilize Microstation and/or AutoCAD to prepare engineering drawings, layouts, and assemblies from general engineering and design information, rough sketches, and specifications, following established standards and procedures.Work closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated and seamless design process.Apply drafting and design principles to create working drawings that meet applicable standards and codes.Use technical manuals and standards such as AASHTO, ANSI, and ASME to ensure compliance with design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.Assist with file management, compiling plan sets, and organizing design documents for submittal.Perform basic calculations and compile data necessary for preparing design drawings.Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.Familiarity with CAD design/drafting, especially Microstation and/or AutoCAD.Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to relevant CAD standards (state and municipal DOTs) and company policies.Willingness to learn new modeling technologies as they become available and required.Preferred Qualifications:
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Applied Science Drafting (or equivalent) from an accredited technical institute.Ability to read and create orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs.0-5 years of experience in structural or civil drafting, with a focus on transportation or infrastructure projects.Knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, and BrIM (Bridge Information Modeling) is highly preferred, but BIM experience or a willingness to learn BrIM will also be considered.Experience with DOT standards and ProjectWise or similar document management systems is a plus.Minimum Clearance Required to Start:
