Your OpportunityAn exciting opportunity exists for a Structural/Bridge Team Lead to become part of our dynamic transportation business group in the US Mountain. Stantec’s transportation business group has a strong local presence and participates in some of Stantec’s largest and most iconic transportation projects – locally, nationally, and globally. The successful candidate will be someone with a strong bridge design and management background who can demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and passion for leading and empowering teams.
In the capacity of a Structural/Bridge Team Lead, you will interface directly with clients and stakeholders to effectively manage project teams and deliverables, with a focus on quality and collaboration. You will lead the Structural/Bridge teams of professionals across the various states within the US Mountain region (Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada) and provide technical leadership in various infrastructure projects. Through your broad skill set and background, you will perform a variety of tasks which may include design and design management, business planning and growth, project management, people leadership, client account management, resource planning, proposal writing, and quality management.
People, Process and Business Leadership:
Lead a team of highly skilled bridge engineers, engineers in training, technologists, designers, and interns to successfully execute projects of varying sizes and complexity.
Consult and network with key clients and contribute to client account planning as required.
Manage the workload and resource planning for the structural/bridge team, maximizing productivity and ensuring team utilization is reasonable, and tasks are distributed fairly amongst the team.
Track and drive team performance against established key performance indicators (KPIs).
Conduct staff performance reviews and support career development.
Provide input and recommendations on compensation for direct reports, including promotions.
Provide mentorship, ensure the technical development of junior designers and EIT’s.
Recommend and participate in the hiring process and decision making of new team members, with the support of Human Resources.
Coordinate with other discipline leads to ensure resources are allocated properly and projects are executed.
Consult with other leadership to ensure alignment of corporate goals and effective use of resources and knowledge.
Provide internal leadership in design excellence, coaching, engagement, and retention. Oversee and manage multiple projects.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Bridge Engineering and Project Management:
Participate in business development and project pursuits, leading, or contributing to preparation of work proposals to clients.
Oversee and manage projects for significant bridge projects and multi-disciplinary projects involving bridges/structures.
Supervise the work of structural analysts and designers for a variety of transportation structures, responsible for ensuring quality plans/reviews under undertaken by senior structural engineering team members
Plan and design bridges and other structures related to various highway, transit, airport, port and rail projects, allocating resources from the Bridge/Structural team
Lead design of select structural/bridge projects, and when appropriate, sealing of projects as Engineer of Record.
Prepare and present information to clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
Collaboration with other engineering disciplines and supporting technical/drafting staff, coordinating the efficient production of deliverables workplan within budgets.
Interaction with Stantec structural/bridge teams globally for project collaboration and participation as a senior structural/bridge specialist on complex bridges and structures. Capabilities, Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Structural Engineer (SE) designation will be preferred.
Working knowledge of all relevant bridge design guides, codes and standards.
Experience with technical guidelines, codes and construction standards of key public authorities such as State Department of Transportation(s).
Comprehensive technical understanding of various phases of infrastructure projects, including conventional and alternative delivery methods.
Ability to lead individuals and teams on project assignments.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, and aptitude for leadership, managing people and delivery of infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of the functionality of relevant design software.
Position will work in person and remotely to serve the BC region with a preference to have at the minimum 3 days per week in office work with some field work as required.

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI and MD Min Pay Range: $114,400 Max Pay Range: $171,600 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
