**Job Description Summary**
Production Technologies Top Supplier team is looking for an energetic Structural Castings Engineer to work with suppliers solve Design and Manufacturing production issues in the Supply Chain. The role specializes in identifying design and manufacturing solutions to solve delivery constraints for GE and Supplier designed hardware. Areas of focus are: Producibility improvements from Design and Manufacturing changes, Activities that enable hardware flow in Manufacturing, working with Casting Suppliers to develop technical relationships that solve issues. The role also should be able to provide development/training for other Structural Casting team members. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing manufacturing processes and new processes. Help suppliers implement Flight Deck tools for operational visual management. Has the ability to work with autonomy guided by established policies or review of end results. Activities include driving improvements to the design and technical improvements for better producibility. A main goal is to ensure the source for the component or product to meet the agreed upon production rate within the expected quality of a GE Aviation product. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.
Additional salary compensation is applied based on qualified travel performed by the individual.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
+ Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
+ Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
+ Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
+ Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in structural casting engineering
+ US citizenship to work in facilities that process both Commercial and US Military products
**Desired Characteristics**
+ Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
+ Structural castings MRB Certification.
+ Guiding US and global teams inside and outside the US.
