Job Title: Structural Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Structural Design Engineer with extensive experience in mechanical design, particularly with an emphasis on doors, including hinge and latch mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in space vehicle design and the ability to guide junior engineers in structural design while supporting the design process through trade studies, concept development, and interface development.

ResponsibilitiesDesign complex kinematic solutions in a conceptual design environment.Guide structural architecture definition through identification and proposal of advanced technology.Support design through trade studies, concept development, and interface development.Utilize CATIA for part design, assembly design, surface-wireframe, and composites workbench.Design primary and secondary composite structures.Work with high-temperature material forming.Apply knowledge of engineering and physical science principles, materials, and tools in a collaborative environment.Develop, integrate, document, and evaluate flight vehicle structure designs for performance, functional adequacy, cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.Essential SkillsExperience in mechanical design with emphasis on doors, including hinge and latch mechanisms.Extensive experience in space vehicle design.Experience in CATIA part design/assembly design/surface-wireframe/composites workbench.Experience with high-temperature material forming.GD&T experience.Experience in creating, managing, and running GFEMs (Global Finite Element Models).Experience in creating and executing DFEMs (Detail Finite Element Models).Ability to create simple working FEMs for conceptual design work to validate design principles.Experience with composite workbench.Knowledge of various material forms and processes considered for conceptual design trade studies.Experience executing trade studies to consider various design solutions and select the best options to meet weight, cost, and schedule constraints.Ability to work in an IPT environment with design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions.Additional Skills & QualificationsWing Design.Fuselage Design.Vertical Tail Design.Air Vehicle Door Design.Stringer/Frames/Clips design.Propulsion Design.Experience with Catia V5 - Wire Frame and Surfacing.Nacelle/Pylon Experience.Previous Boeing Experience.Work Environment

This role requires working onsite at a commercial facility from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The work environment is collaborative, involving design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions. The position offers a long-term contract of a minimum of 12 months.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $85.00/hr.
