Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Structural Designer who will work remotely within Leidos' Power Delivery Services (PDS) division. This position will be part of an established Project Management Office (PMO) that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution, substation and transmission line projects nationwide.

As an experienced designer in structural substation work, you will coordinate directly with our structural engineers supporting our substation site development group by creating steel plans, sections, details and BOMs.  Similarly, produce foundation plans, sections, details, and BOMs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to take basic direction from engineers to start projects using survey, conceptual general arrangement drawings, or one lines to generate drawing packages. A substantial attention to detail will be required.  Ability to create overlays and coordinate with multiple disciplines is essential to the role.   Effective communication supported by a philosophy of continuous improvement and teamwork is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

Prepare site steel plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs.Identifies and resolves design interferences.Ensures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards.Ensure electrical assets can mount easily, coordinating vendor equipment mounting templates with Leidos’ steel design.Prepare foundation plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs.Ensure engineering design details are properly represented for the development of “greenfield” (new) substations.Perform design due diligence as it relates to site expansion projects or brownfield work for within existing substations.May provide additional support to our site-civil and physical design groups in laying out plans, sections, and details for substation projects.

Basic required Qualifications:

AA/2-year degree in Engineering Technology - CAD or related scientific/technical discipline5+ years of relevant experience in steel design. Additional direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.Proficient in Substation Power Delivery Software: Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation

3D Modeling Using Autodesk InventorKnowledge of MS Office SuiteGood communication skills

Pay Range:Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
