We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Dynamics Engineer to join our team with Nexus Solutions, a teammate company.

​This position will be performing structural dynamic analysis on spacecraft and lunar vehicles in multiple NASA human spaceflight programs. This includes Orion, Gateway, Human Landing System, Commercial Crew Program, Lunar Terrain Vehicle, Pressurized Rover, and others. The position will require the following skills, knowledge, and abilities\:

Perform detailed finite element modeling, dynamic model reduction, coupled loads analysis, and evaluate results
Perform analyses using commercial and in-house codes as well as write new simulation scripts, typically with Python
Perform modal analysis on component Finite Element Analysis models in preparation for modal tests
Perform vibroacoustic analysis on finite element models in preparation for acoustic and random vibration tests
Identify critical modes for a component or integrated system
Review and process modal and structural data (analytical and test)
Develop or review test plans and procedures, documenting test results
Signal Processing
Perform other duties as required​ *

Requisition Qualifications\: 

​This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. 

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area
Familiarity with desktop software applications, MS Office is required
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Finite element modeling experience
Experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or C/C

Requisition Preferences\: 

Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering. License and certification may be required – or - ​BS or MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Experience using NASTRAN with FEMAP as a pre/post-processor
Experience with Component Mode Synthesis and Craig Bampton model reductions
Experience performing multi-body and dynamic contact analysis (e.g. LS-DYNA or Adams)
Experience customizing analysis processes through scripting and software development
Familiarity with version control methods using GitLab or GitHub
Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C/C
Experience with vibroacoustic software such as Wave6 or VA-One
Familiarity with NASA standards and processes​

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance following an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
