The position opening for a Structural EIT/Coordinator offers exciting opportunities in the field of Power Generation with an emphasis in Renewable Energy.
Primary Responsibilities:
As an HDR Structural EIT/Coordinator your duties will include:
· Performingdetailed structural design, analysis, engineering calculations,and developing construction documents for a variety of structures under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer.
· Projects will include power and energy projects (i.e. wind, solar, battery storage, and non-renewable power generation), in addition to industrial, institutional facilities, and a variety of other project types.
· Acting as an Owner’s Engineer for new or retrofit projects.
· Writing/Editing structural specifications.
· Verifying code compliance, quality checks, meeting project schedules and budget.
· Working independently on small projects and assisting senior engineers on larger projects.
· Using stiffness matrix based analysis software (i.e. RISA, STAAD, and LPile), hand calculations, as well as current codes and standards to perform your work.
· Participating in project site visits in conjunction with the Project Manager, Sr. Structural Engineer, and other disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications· Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with Structural emphasis, from ABET accredited university, and interest in continuing education.
· Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field
· Engineering in Training (EIT) Certificate. Candidates hired without their EIT will be titled "Structural Coordinator" and they will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
· Structural engineering experience, preferably in power and energy projects or heavy industrial facilities.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and structural analysis software such as RISA, STAAD, and LPile. Familiarity with CADD software such as AutoCAD or Revit a plus.
· Understanding of the finite element method and how to perform basic FEA.
· Must be capable of working in a team-oriented environment andpossessanalytical and organizational skills to work on multiple projects at one time.
· Having both strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability tocoordinate your work with other disciplines and CAD designers either in person or remotely from another HDR office.
· Additional skills such as attention to accuracy, detail orientated, self-directed learning, meeting deadlines, and multi-tasking are required.
· The willingness to try new things and be a forward thinking, innovative engineer.
