Job Description
Our client is a research and consulting firm that provides a wide range of support to federal, state, and commercial clients. They offer multidisciplinary teams with nationally recognized skills in engineering, science, economics, public health, informational technology, and communications. They are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to develop structural designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings at a federal site in Indian Head, MD. This position will be hybrid at the federal site in Indian Head, MD and will include interaction and support from personnel at the federal site, as well as from offices in Chantilly and Arlington, VA.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop requirements and provide technical review of design packages.Prepare design packages, including structural and/or civil engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for renovation projects.Conduct technical reviews of design packages to assess compliance with building codes and regulations.Provide technical input to proposal development for renovation projects.Support the design process from concept through delivery of the completed design package.Prepare technical memoranda/reports summarizing information such as requirements or the basis of design.Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal and external to the design team.Serve as a project manager and/or design manager on assigned projects.Prepare fact sheets, structural analysis, and investigative and observation reports for facilities and facility components.Complete facility design services and support the review of designs for compliance with code and manufacturing processes.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.A minimum of 5 years of experience, with 10+ years preferred.Experience with designing structural components for industrial or commercial buildings (Vertical Structures).Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance. Additional Skills & QualificationsProfessional Engineer License is preferred but not required.Work Environment
Work will be performed on the project site in Indian Head, MD. A hybrid schedule is possible after 90 days, with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.
