Structural Engineer
Job Title: Civil/Structural Design Engineer Job Description We are currently seeking a Civil/Structural Design Engineer for a mid-size consulting firm. This role focuses on design engineering for small to mid-sized projects within the heavy industrial sector. The position involves substantial design work initially, with opportunities for progression into engineering and project management roles. The primary focus will be on retrofit projects within existing industrial facilities. Responsibilities + Perform civil and/or structural design duties as stand-alone projects or as part of multi-disciplined projects. + Assist project managers in developing estimates, schedules, material lists, design concepts, design drawings, and other project documentation per customer and corporate guidelines. + Perform field work and technical research. + Maintain project files and documentation using document control databases. + Ensure accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility. + Track and comply with scopes, schedules, and budgets. + Perform field work in industrial environments to collect design information and verify tie-ins, function, and clearances. + Provide temporary field support activities for engineering support during construction. + Assist engineers with cost and material estimates and preliminary design studies. + Directly interface with clients. + Check the accuracy and quality of drawings. Essential Skills + Civil/Structural Engineering degree from an ABET accredited undergraduate program. + Knowledge of basic civil and structural material specifications for material purchase, fabrication, and construction reflected on finished drawings. + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. + Strong communication and organizational skills. + Results-oriented and a team player. + Uncompromised commitment to quality. + U.S. citizenship, valid driver's license, and ability to pass a drug test and BG check. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Preferred coursework in AutoCAD, Revit, 3D CAD, Advance Steel, RISA 3D. Work Environment The team consists of 1 Department Manager (PE), 1 engineer (PE), 2 engineers (both PEs), and 1 structural designer. The environment is collaborative, with close work between the mechanical, process, and electrical teams. This is an in-office position located in Midlothian, VA, near Interstate 288 and Route 360. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $53.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
