Structural Engineer
Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to prepare and implement design calculations, analysis, and permitting for all assigned projects and structures. The ideal candidate will review client proposals and plans to determine procedures, staffing requirements, and resource allocation for all project phases, including estimating, scheduling, design, permitting, construction support, and close-out. The Senior Structural Engineer will serve as the primary contact for project information exchange and communication between the firm and the client, with the support of senior staff.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare and implement design calculations, analysis, and permitting for all assigned projects and structures.Review client proposals and plans to determine procedures, staffing requirements, and resource allocation for all project phases.Develop and support project proposals by establishing, delegating, and performing work plans, assignments, and staffing for each project phase.Serve as the primary contact for project information exchange and communication between the firm and the client, with support from senior staff.Complete and review status reports and monitor intermediate and internal design reviews to ensure document adherence to firm standards for completeness, quality, and accuracy.Ensure compliance with client standards.Prepare project reports and schedules for management and client requests.Ensure that all forms and scoping documents are complete and available for the project team.Direct and review the approach used by project staff in completing tasks to ensure coordination, completeness, and accuracy of critical requirements.Provide technical support or clarification on questions from the client or project team members.Write technical reports, memos, and other correspondence in accordance with client and firm standards.Sign and seal drawings or other required documentation based on division and firm policies.Support division recruitment efforts, including participation in virtual and in-person interviews.Provide initial new hire training and ongoing training as applicable.Support marketing efforts through technical writing in response to RFQs and RFPs.Monitor new technology and recommend the purchase of new equipment, software, and supplies.Follow and abide by the DMA employee and safety manuals.Essential SkillsThorough understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, and tools.Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and other design, data recording, and analysis software.Experience with MicroStation/GeoPAK, Trimble Business Center, and other discipline-specific software.Thorough understanding of construction materials, methods, and tools.Knowledge of safety regulations related to assigned projects.Experience working on various project types and scales.Ability to perform basic design calculations and measurements.Willingness to learn and use various cloud-based products.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Previous experience in structural engineering.Additional Skills & QualificationsEIT or FE certification required, PE preferred.Must obtain PE within 6 months of hire.Experience in structural engineering in educational and medical settings.Experience working with project owners and stakeholders.Project management experience in construction-related industries.Work Environment

The candidate can work fully remote or on-site in St. Louis. The work environment includes the use of various technologies and equipment, and adherence to safety and employee manuals is expected.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00
