Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to provide full-time engineering support and design services for Naval Architecture and Structural Engineering. Areas of expertise required include shock hardening, welding, hull structural systems, decks, structural bulkheads, superstructure, foundations, and supportive systems. Additionally, the candidate will provide design services for antenna/weapons foundations and platforms, masts, personnel safety items such as handrails, fall arrest protection, exterior vertical/accommodation ladders, exterior equipment foundations, and mooring fittings.

ResponsibilitiesProvide design and engineering support of structural and arrangement systems supported by engineering design.Develop comprehensive engineering drawings using AUTOCAD 2018, ensuring technical accuracy and completeness.Ensure drawings conform to and incorporate IDEA Manual, ISID (Intelligent Ship Installation Drawing), GSO (General Specifications for Overhaul), NSTM (Naval Ship Technical Manuals), SCD (Ship Change Document), weight and moment calculations where applicable.Oversee system arrangements, support interface, supporting engineering calculations and analysis, shock requirements, damage control, safety, and environmental considerations.Manage all technical interfaces including system or component testing requirements, material, and specification data.Essential SkillsMinimum of four (4) years design experience in surface ship compartment arrangement design, maritime outfitting and furniture design, and/or naval paint systems.A minimum of ten (10) years (Senior level) or four (4) years (Mid-level) practical design engineering experience in responsible engineering duties. Also open to new grads with maritime experience!Proficiency in using AUTOCAD 2018.Experience with structural analysis, naval systems, structural design, structural engineering, architecture, marine engineering, and vibration analysis.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture preferred but not required.Ability to travel locally and abroad, and physically able to perform shipchecks.U.S. citizenship required.Current SECRET security clearance (or within the last 2 years) or the ability to attain one.Work Environment

The role involves working with advanced engineering tools and technologies. The candidate should be prepared for both local and international travel and physically capable of performing shipchecks. A professional work environment will require adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and effective collaboration with various technical teams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62.00 - $75.00
