Job Description
We are a research and consulting firm that provides a wide range of support to federal, state, and commercial clients. Our multidisciplinary teams have nationally recognized skills in engineering, science, economics, public health, informational technology, and communications. We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to develop structural designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings at a federal site in Indian Head, MD. This position will be hybrid at the federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from personnel at the federal site, as well as from our Chantilly and Arlington, VA offices. We were recently awarded the Energetic Comprehensive Modernization Plan, which encompasses the modernization of the Indian Head base designed to enhance the Navy's capacity for munitions production, addressing immediate demands and preparing for future surge and replenishment needs.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop requirements and perform technical reviews of design packages, as well as occasional design work.Prepare design packages including structural and/or civil engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for renovation projects such as roof replacements, building reconfigurations, additions, or adjustments due to changes in facility use or utilities such as HVAC upgrades or electrical work.Conduct technical reviews of design packages created by others to assess compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and end-user requirements.Provide technical input for proposal development for renovation projects.Support the design process from concept through delivery of the completed design package.Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information such as requirements or the basis of design.Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal and external to the design team (e.g., engineering department, manufacturing department).Serve as a project manager and/or design manager on some assigned projects.Prepare fact sheets, structural analysis, investigative and observation reports for facilities and facility components where areas of concern are identified.Complete facility design services and support the review of designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes to help realize state-of-the-art facilities through construction and commissioning.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a related field.A minimum of 5 years experience required, with 10+ years preferred.Experience designing structural components for industrial or commercial buildings (Vertical Structures).Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsProfessional Engineer License is preferred, but not required.Must currently hold OR be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance.Citizenship is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations.Work Environment
Work will be performed on the project site in Indian Head, MD. A hybrid schedule is possible after 90 days, with four days onsite and one day remote. The position offers premium compensation, stability, a competitive PTO and holiday schedule (negotiable), and significant opportunities for growth and advancement.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $180000.00
