Job Description
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support a critical program for NOAA Fleet Recapitalization Efforts. This role involves assisting program managers with the day-to-day activities of ship acquisitions. The position is hybrid, with 2-3 days onsite.
ResponsibilitiesPerform preliminary ship design studiesConduct analyses on ship structures and perform trade-off studiesEstimate costs of design changesReview and modify engineering drawingsOversee ship checks and constructionEssential Skills8 years of Naval Architecture experienceProficiency in AutoCAD and ShipConstructorAbility to assess vessel designs for regulatory compliance regarding stability and designStrong technical writing and specification review skillsExperience in reviewing and modifying engineering drawingsAdditional Skills & QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) certification in Naval Architecture or other engineering disciplinesProficiency in FEMAP, MAESTRO, and ANSYSExperience in cost estimationExperience with production techniques for steel shipsWork Environment
The role is hybrid with 2-3 days onsite and occasional travel. The work environment is dynamic, offering opportunities to engage in various tasks beyond traditional roles. The office is located in Silver Spring, close to a Metro stop, providing easy access.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
