Your Key Responsibilities

The role of a Structural Engineer is to work independently on small projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. The Structural Engineer will be able to evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.  Additional responsibilities include:

Independently complete calculations and drawings for small projects Development of job specific discipline specifications independently for less complex projects Works with and coordinates with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines for coordination of the project Independently perform Construction Administration duties including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software. Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and Owner clients Have an understanding of industry standard design processes and understanding of construction means and methods Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service Assist with development of design standards The secondary role of Advanced Technology is to work with Stantec’s Digital Practice to help implement new tools for design and collaboration throughout the structural team.  You will create your own tools to be used in design of large and complex projects and assist with scaling those tools to be used by the greater practice. 

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of Architects, Engineers, and Owner clients effectively Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in both independently and in team settings Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought Ability to determine design automation processes and parametric design approaches for complex design and geometry Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record. 

Education and Experience

Minimum 5 or more years of related experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, Master’s Degree preferred Professional Engineering license is required, Structural Engineering license is preferred Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit) Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite) Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.) Experience with programming languages and software (C++, C#, Dynamo, Grasshopper, etc.)

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC) Min Pay Range: CA Other Areas $100,200 Max Pay Range: CA Other Areas $145,300 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
