Structural Engineer II

The Engineer II will perform engineering design and analysis assignments involving smaller, less complex projects under supervision of an experienced engineer or engineering manager. These projects require the ability to apply conventional knowledge of statics, dynamics and load path in structural engineering and demonstrate the ability to gain, retain and illustrate comprehension of additional knowledge shared by more senior engineers on a project team.

What You Will Do:

Performs engineering review and analysis assignments under minimal supervision of an experienced engineer or engineering manager  Applies conventional knowledge in structural engineering. Review project plans with senior staff to understand the scope, schedule and assigned work. Prepare written documents, reports and presentations for review by an experienced engineer or engineering manager. Develop understanding of the technical requirements and challenges and provide suggested opportunities of the business to formulate opportunities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in day-to-day job tasks. Participate in client and team meetings. Track and accurately report hours spent on projects Work with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands. Perform quality assurance on project deliverables.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in appropriate engineering discipline. Master’s degree preferred. 2-4 years of relevant professional experience with Bachelor’s degree. 1-2 years of relevant professional experience with Master’s degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to gain, retain and illustrate comprehension of learned technical knowledge. Basic knowledge of the latest building codes (IBC, CBC and ASCE 7) and material standards (AISC, ACI, NDS and TMS). Familiarity with common structural building systems (gravity and lateral) and materials (steel, concrete, masonry and wood). Openly accept change as part of business evolution to meet the needs of our clients and support it Understands Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and their significance to the business. Ability to establish rapport with senior members of the team and colleagues. Must understand assigned responsibilities and hold themself accountable for keeping commitments. Must actively participate in daily activities. Ability to produce an expected quantity and quality of work. Must organize, plan and manage time and tasks effectively utilizing intermediate time management skills Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.

It Would Be Nice If You Had

Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification preferred.

Salary Range: $80-100k

The incumbent reports to a manager level position and does not have any direct reports.
