Structural Engineer III - New Glenn

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.

As a Design Engineer on the Manufacturing Technology team of the New Glenn Stage 1 booster you will work on the design, analyze, and build of prototypes, testing, product and process development of various New Glenn Stage 1 booster components and systems. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant degree4+ years of work or project experience in design, analysis, build, and testingCapable of integrating concepts and principles of mechanical design and analysis for several different projects in a fast-paced environmentAbility to interpret and apply sound design and drafting standards (ASME Y14.5, GD&T) in creating and evaluating engineering drawings and definitionHandle a wide range of technical problems and familiar with different types metallic and composite component.Ability to understand the use and application of assembly fixtures, structural weldments, testing setups, coating application and use. Experience collaborating with component and system designer engineers, manufacturing engineers, test engineers and production/operations to achieve efficient and cost-effective designs.Ability to manage vendor projects including the down selection, manufacturing process, and quality auditsAbility to set, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completionAbility to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a dynamic team environment applying team member’s strengths.Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skillsA demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distancesPeriodic travel to support production, engineering, management staff, and suppliers/vendors. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with structural analysis in addition to the ability to perform hand calculationsProven expertise in design for manufacturability and design for assembly including experience taking products from development design to rate productionSolid understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines including mills, lathes, welding, sheet-metal bending, lifting/rigging, assembly, inspection, etc.Experience with ProE/Creo and Windchill CAD/PDM systemsExperience with FEM software such as ANSYS Workbench, FEMAP Pre/Post processing, NASTRAN Solver, NX Advance Simulation, ProE Simulate/Mechanical, etc.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $89,820.00-$125,748.00

Other site ranges may differ
