Responsibilities

Preliminary and final design document preparation for bridge-focused transportation projectsProject management/task managementStaff mentoring/development/technical oversightSome business development activities may be expected

Skills and Abilities

Must possess strong technical skillsDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing is essentialDetail oriented and quality focusedTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyMotivated to lead and mentor a structural engineering team

Qualifications

15+ years of civil or structural engineering experience with Load and Resistance Factor DesignBS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred) (1-2 years of experience can be substituted for a master’s degree)Licensed North Carolina PE required or ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire dateProgressively responsible experience in structural bridge design, construction phasing, and complex bridge projects with North Carolina experience preferredExperience completing transportation studies, design reports, final design documents and developing contract plans, in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures including AASHTO & DOT Independent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete), and seismic analysisKnowledge of structural engineering software (AASHTOWare, LARSA 4D, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, Mathcad)AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation v8, Open Bridge Designer and Connect experience is a strong plusSupervisory or team lead experience is preferred
