Structural Section Manager

HDR is hiring a Structural Section Manager for our Florida Building Engineering Services Team in either Orlando or Tampa, Florida. This individual will be expected to grow a structural team and be the senior leader and mentor of that team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing and building a design production team through recruitment, staff development, and trainingManaging workflow and utilization, mentoring and staff development, forecasting and scheduling, quality control, and fostering a team environmentFunction as a technical lead on projects, coordinating with other disciplines across HDR, and leading the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, a s well as the review of shop drawings during constructionWill be directly involved with external clients as well as internal project managers, market sector leads, business group managers, and other leaders throughout HDRHelp implement, monitor, and support company policies.Participate in leadership for technical service functions and support the development of HDR services in technical design.Prepare structural proposals including scope development and estimating hours/fee.Some regional/national travel will be expected.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related Engineering discipline.A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design of buildings and facilities.PE license is required for this roleExcellent communication, leadership, and planning skills, and the ability to thrive in a team environment.Ability to manage, lead and mentor other team members.Strong knowledge of modeling software such as STAAD, Enercalc, TEDDS, etc.Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.Experience in the design of facility related structural systems including reinforced concrete, masonry, and structural steelExperience with finite element design and 3D building designThis individual should be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound structural designsOur work spans a broad segment of the market and structure types including environmental engineering structures, industrial buildings and associated structures, healthcare, education and science, and workfor the federal government. While deep knowledge in every sector is not required, a willingness to learn and engage is critical. SE license preferredMaster's degree with a focus in Structural Engineering.Experience designing water/wastewater facilities.Experience with the direct supervision of multiple staff members.Required Qualifications
