We are looking for a Senior Structural Steel Inspector to join our team for infrastructure projects and lead a group of Inspectors to ensure conformance to shop drawings and specifications. We will rely on you to ensure that all inspection activities are performed and documented in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
• Managing and directing the team of inspectors on-site.
• Monitoring bridge construction activities along with the team of inspectors and ensuring that the materials and work performed by the contractor is in conformance with the contract plans, specifications and shop drawings.
• Maintaining detailed records of daily operations and ensuring that the inspectors are documenting daily reports, photos, quantities, and equipment information as per the contract documents.
• Monitoring contractor’s traffic control plan and identifying potential issues.
• Providing guidance to the team of inspectors on-site to perform dimension checks and survey checks if needed.
• Check and approve quantities for monthly pay estimates.
• Verifying adherence to the approved QA/QC plan.
• 8+ years’ construction inspection experience with 4+ years inspecting structural steel components for bridges.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or High School Diploma in Civil, Construction or related field.
• Familiarity with current TxDOT and HCTRA standard specifications.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints (shop drawings), and specifications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection.
• Strong work ethic and able to work independently on the job site or fabrication facility.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Experience with post-tensioning operations.
• Experience with inspection of structural steel fabrication.
