As part of a small, hardworking, passionate, diverse, and accomplished team of experts, you will own engineering support of high rate builds of New Glenn’s composite payload fairing and fixed adapter including design improvements for cost, rate and quality and rapid resolution of manufacturing nonconformances.

Responsibilities include:
Identify and implement opportunities for cost and rate improvements through design and drawing updates of primary and secondary structures built both within Blue Origin and at outside suppliers.Support disposition of recurring and one-off nonconformances by working with stress, M&P, ME, and adjacent hardware responsible engineers to develop repair/rework/UAI/scrap dispositions for discrepant hardware.Identify and implement engineering corrective actions to reduce future nonconformances.Design, analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary composite structures.Create and modify 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, installations, and interface control documents.Work with cross-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce world class aerospace hardware.Participate in the development and purchase of new equipment and tooling.Coach, mentor and technically assist other engineers.Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 5 years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Experience with aerospace structure design and manufacturing.Experience supporting rate increases.Experience supporting production fabrication and assembly of aerospace structures, preferably composite.Experience with nonconforming hardware disposition (Liaison, Material Review Board (MRB), Aircraft on Ground (AOG), etc).Understanding of composite and metallic design and analysis matters.Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance analysis (ASME Y14.5).Familiarity with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:
Experience with design and analysis of composite structure repairs.Ability to apply structural mechanics principles and development designs using hand calculations and finite element analysis.Demonstrated expertise with any industry standard analysis codes: Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, LS/Dyna, Hypermesh, Hypersizer.Mechanical design and integration skills using CATIA V5 and the CATIA composite software workbenches.Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10.Experience with fabrication utilizing automated fiber placement (AFP) and tape laying (ATL).Experience or expertise with fabrication of large-scale out-of-autoclave (OoA) composite structures.Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control.Experience with Optimization and DOE methods as applied to design, analysis, and testing.Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
