This position is located in Roseville, MN and has the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule (in the office on Monday and Wednesday). If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. This position will provide overall leadership and direction of the bridge and structure safety inspection program in the Metro District. This position will also support bridge maintenance staff in the West Area and provide assistance with scoping and programming of bridge construction projects. This position supervises, develops, and leads technical office staff and their work activities. This position serves as the primary Assistant Bridge Inspection Program Administrator for the Metro District and leads the engineering review of routine and in-depth inspection reports. This postiion develops and produces technical analyses of bridge and structural maintenance concerns and identifies targets, solutions and optimal results for those situations. This position serves on Bridge Inspection and Maintenance Engineering committees and advisory groups to represent District inputs, concerns and needs with regard to bridge and structural inspection and maintenance standards, policies and research. **The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment. **Minimum Qualifications** + Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through Comity (Reciprocity). (If obtaining licensure through comity (reciprocity), a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.) + Three years of post-registration engineering experience at the Engineer Senior level (or equivalent) in structural inspections, design, load ratings, specifications, materials, fabrication, construction, or maintenance for bridges or other miscellaneous structures. + Knowledge of state and federal bridge safety inspection standards. + A valid Class D Driver's License with NONE of the following: no major traffic convictions in the past 5 years; OR 4 or more minor violations in the last 3 years; OR any combination of minor violations and at-fault accidents totaling 4 or more occurrences. If advanced to the finalist pool, in addition to the preceding qualifications, candidates will be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview: + Supervisory skills sufficient to enforce and communicate MnDOT's policies, personnel rules and collective bargaining agreements. This includes the ability to provide alternative or combined skills in developing, collaborating with, persuading, motivating and leading other people as well as managing conflict and staff. + Human Relations skills that demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with public, businesses, elected officials, and other governmental organizations. + Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing sufficient to give direction, facilitate meetings, make public presentations, and answer project specific and policy questions and to write letters and other documentation. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bridge inspection experience + Bridge maintenance experience + Bridge scoping experience **Additional Requirements** It is our policy that the successful candidate pass a background check prior to employment.
