Structures Inspector
This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for experienced **Full-Time Structures Inspectors** for our **San Bernardino, California** office. Be involved in projects with our **Construction Management Team** and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges. Other Southern California locations may also be considered. The Structures Inspectors will provide bridge and highway structures inspection and perform construction management services using the Caltrans Construction Manual, Caltrans Standard Specifications and Standard Plans, Bridge Records and Procedures Manual, Falsework Manual, Survey Manual, Materials Sampling and Testing Manual, and Traffic Manual. Your Impact + Assist in inspections to assure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions on all phases of structural construction such as bridges, foundation, walls, falsework, shoring, drainage structures, and sign structures + Assist in reviewing false work plans, shoring plans, demolition plans, concrete mix designs and other submittals provided by the contractors as required by the contract documents + Make grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring calculations + Assist in the preparation of contract change orders and responses to requests for information, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required for the Project + Sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications and Caltrans Quality Assurance Program + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + High School Diploma. + Minimum of 5 years of relevant post education experience to include of bridge design or structural construction inspection as related to Caltrans or major public works projects + Knowledge of stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials. + Thorough understanding of Cal-OSHA practices and procedures. + Knowledge of construction practices and the physical characteristics and properties of various highway bridge construction materials including concrete. + Experience in one or more of the following areas: pile driving, concrete prestressing, bridge deck construction, retaining wall construction, falsework, and shoring. + Ability to work independently and make minor decisions concerning construction work in progress and to solve field and office problems. + Ability to use an automatic level and transit for the purpose of verifying line and grade. + Understanding of Caltrans construction methods and practices + Valid state driver’s license. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. **Preferred Qualifications** + Four-year degree in civil or structural engineering **Compensation and Benefits:** WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
