Proficiency in using electronic health record systems: Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to input and retrieve patient information, update medical records, and document procedures accurately. Adhere to privacy and security regulations when handling electronic patient data.
Obtain patient medical history information: Take detailed patient histories, including current medications, allergies, and past medical conditions. Ensure accurate and thorough documentation.
Schedule appointments: Assist in scheduling patient appointments, coordinating with healthcare providers and patients to find suitable time slots. Manage appointment reminders and rescheduling when necessary.
Experience with insurance prior authorization processes and documentation requirements. Assist in completing and submitting prior authorization forms as needed.
Schedule tests, procedures, and consults: Coordinate with patients and healthcare providers to schedule diagnostic tests, procedures, and specialist consultations. Ensure necessary paperwork and preparation instructions are provided to patients. Hours per Week 8-16 Job Summary You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. Part-time medical assistant position in a pediatric care office.
We are searching for a reliable Medical Assistant to perform various office and clinical duties to keep our healthcare practice running efficiently. Our Medical Assistant will work directly with healthcare practice staff to collect test samples, maintain patient records, explain common medical procedures to patients and assist in basic examinations.

Place patients in rooms after age, weight, vital signs, and chief complaints are taken and recorded in medical record
Properly prepare the patient for the exam and assist the physician as needed with exams, ultrasounds, and procedures
Make certain that all pertinent pre-clinic laboratory or other pertinent data is in chart at time of visit
Have a working knowledge of setting up and assisting with minor surgery, suturing, casting, social service exams, gynecologic exams, toenail removal, and cryosurgery
Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis, and other in office laboratories
Prepare slides for urinalysis, KOH, and wet prep microscopic exam
Practice Universal Precautions at all times utilizing available safety equipment (gloves, shields, etc.)
Maintain well-cleaned and stocked rooms and laboratory area
Clean and sanitize instruments regularly
Perform in-office diagnostic testing such as EKG and PFT and CLIA waived testing
Have computer knowledge for operating lab computer to assist in entering laboratory tests and retrieving results of such
Prepare and administer immunizations, allergy, or other injections
Assist with phone triage and scheduling as needed
Have knowledge of closing office procedure-turn off equipment, clean instruments
Inform appropriate personnel of any needed supplies for rooms or laboratory
Maintain current license and certification if applicable
Assist with lifting patients as needed
Cover clerical positions with filing and telephone operations when employees are on break, lunch, and away for other absences when necessary
Obtain patient insurance pre-authorization for all referrals and procedures
Perform all other duties as assigned

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Enrolled in a professional track program such as Pre-Nursing, Pre-PA, Pre-NP, Pre-Med, or a related field.
Experience taking pediatric patient’s vital signs: Accurately measure and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate for pediatric patients. Ensure proper documentation and communicate any significant findings to healthcare providers.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills: Efficiently manage and prioritize tasks to ensure smooth workflow in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Handle multiple responsibilities
simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities: Interact professionally and compassionately with patients and their families. Communicate clearly and effectively with healthcare providers and other staff members. Write concise and accurate documentation in patient records.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain patient confidentiality: Pay close attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation, medication administration, and patient information. Respect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures: Possess a foundational understanding of common medical terms, procedures, and abbreviations. This knowledge will assist in accurately
documenting patient conditions, treatments, and instructions.
