Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive program advising for Creative Writing students, guiding them in course selection, degree planning, and career pathways to ensure alignment with their goals and aspirations. Conducts one-on-one program advising meetings with all majors and minors to explain the program requirements, plan course of study, and officially declare.Main point-of-contact for undergraduates and MAPH students with respect to study abroad opportunities, summer courses, thesis/portfolio timelines, honors requirements, and College Honor and Award submissions.Primary liaison between undergraduates, DUS, college advisors, Study Abroad Office, MAPH students in the Creative Writing Option, Creative Writing faculty, and the MAPH department.Prepares major and minor worksheets to track progress toward graduation. Manages audit and signature process for all graduating majors and minors. Tracks submission of all undergraduate theses/portfolios. Organizes faculty honors committee meeting and manages honors designation paperwork.Establishes course schedule while avoiding course conflicts, in collaboration with DUS, Department of English staff, MAPH staff, Program Manager and Director. Reviews final rosters to ensure students are properly enrolled and requirements are covered.Analyzes current processes and systems, and develops business process improvements. Develops standard operating procedure documentation related to course application procedures and application guides for instructors.Proofreads college course listings and updates to college catalog.Manages schedule for the Program’s two proprietary classrooms.Prepares status reports related to course application numbers, waitlists, and final enrollment numbers. Advises Senior Program Manager about any under-enrolled courses and prospective schedule changes.Provides operational and administrative support to the Director, DUS, and Senio Program Manager.Supervises and trains student workers to assist with program work.Maintains program website with up-to-date course information and schedules, faculty bios, and student programs and opportunities.Supports the development of the program including a proprietary graduate and/or fellowship program, remote learning initiatives, and programming. Maintains program resource folder related to digital learning tools for in-person and remote courses. Assists with related reports/presentations.Primary staff contact for SIA, AIS, MyPlanner and course application reports. Prepares reports and assists in analyzing data.In collaboration with DUS, creates and organizes alumni- and career-related programs.Manages and executes end-of-year student reading and reception, socials, and other nonpublic student programs.Publicizes competitions for endowed awards. Manages outside judging process for contests with external judges. Collects entries and assists DUS with committee planning and communications.Informs applicants of competition decisions and provides award winners with guidance and financial forms, collects summer award reports, and follows up with Donor Relations.Initiates and supports outreach efforts to undergraduates in an effort to sustain the number of majors and minors in the Program.Maintains alumni database and engages in alumni outreach throughout the year.Uses moderate/solid understanding and experience to administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries.Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.Analyzes program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.Performs other related work as needed.
