Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Lead Student Applications Systems Administrator, the Student Applications Technical Support assists with maintaining and updating information technology software, hardware, web-based applications and information systems associated with the Division of Student Development and Campus Life (SDCL). This position provides front line technical support to end users, performs data entry and routine configuration updates, gathers and analyzes data, develops and runs reports, performs reconciliations, troubleshoots and assists in the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the administration and configurations of software applications, develops programs, command procedures and scripts for assigned information systems. Supports the departments within the SDCL Division. Troubleshoots and resolves data discrepancies as needed.
Works closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate and execute the annual cycle of work associated with configuring applications and equipment, software and equipment upgrades, and application and equipment up time, and to identify application server, network and security requirements, and integrations as required to support the applications suite.
Troubleshoots system malfunctions, resolves incidents, and consults/coordinates with the software vendor and/or IT regarding updates and technical issues as needed. Monitors the progress of unresolved incidents and reports their status to superiors.
Identifies information demands and translates these into new functionality aimed at optimal system usage, including integration of applicable campus systems where appropriate.
Writes queries or designs and produces reports which support the departments within the division. Analyzes data to ensure accurate reporting. Maintains, regularly reviews, updates and grows an inventory of legacy reports, system delivered reports and customized reports.
Serves as the support resource to end-users providing support, training, and managing rights/authorization within the system. Assists with the development and/or updates of training manuals and job aids, and participates in trainings for end-users on a regular basis. Maintains contact with end-users via telephone, e-mail, and written correspondence.
Supports the implementation of new related technologies. Participates in planning and testing of configurations, importing and exporting data and resolving issues.
Creates technical documentation of processes and detailed steps of completion.
Maintains integrity and confidentiality in instructional and program operations.
Ensures accuracy in maintaining data base, financial and associated records.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
A minimum of two years of professional work experience.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Ability to communicate and coordinate with all levels of the University community.
Technical understanding of the principles and concepts behind application analysis, design analysis and implementations.
Detail oriented, highly motivated, committed to excellent customer service.
Ability to demonstrate a high degree of problem solving and resourcefulness.
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
PREFERRED:
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in related field.
Proficiency in SQL scripting or equivalent.
Previous experience with enterprise student record systems such as Banner or Workday, Blackboard Transact, HTML, Java, Microsoft Office Suite, Cognos and Tableau.
Work experience in Higher Education.
