THIS IS A NON-CAREER APPOINTMENT THAT IS LIMITED TO 129 HOURS PER MONTH
Are you a detail-oriented student with an interest in numbers and Accounting? The Bureau of Investments, T rust Accounting Division (TAD ), is looking for a Student Assistant who is a self-starter that loves learning and working in a team setting. Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, possess strong analytical skills, and are proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Under the direct supervision of the Accountant Manager 14, the Student Assistant will provide assistance in the reconciliation, reporting, the preparation of adjusting accounting entries and the payment of investment fees. This position will assist in automating required annual, quarterly, and other financial reporting, as well as performing other miscellaneous accounting duties as assigned.

Education
Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.
A major in Accounting or Business is strongly desirable.

Additional Requirements and Information
Civil Service Regulation 3.02authorizes a student assistant to work up to 29 hours a week with a maximum of 129 hours in a calendar month. The work schedule for each semester will be determined and agreed upon by the supervisor and the student. Student Assistants should be employed in a work area that is relevant to the student’s academic and career goals.
Students must provide proof of acceptance, enrollment and any updated information whenever changes occur, such as: change in degree program, change in class status (e.g., freshman to sophomore), school transfer, granting of a degree, or leaving school.
Official Transcripts. For our purposes, "official college transcripts" must contain the college/university name and address, the degree conferred, and date granted, coursework completed (especially if no degree granted), the Registrar's signature and/or seal, and must be recognized by theCouncil on Higher Education Accreditation (https://www.chea.org/search-institutions) (CHEA). A scanned or electronic copy is acceptable, as long as it contains the elements listed above. Review more information regarding official transcripts. Foreign Degrees: Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA (https://www.chea.org/search-institutions) ). Go to evaluators (https://www.naces.org/members) for a list of accepted organizations that evaluate foreign credentials. Failure to provide this evaluation at the time of application may result in you being screened out of the process.
Remote Work.This position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week, however selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Please note that occasional onsite work will be required.
Work must be performed in the state of Michigan . If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position prior tobeing appointed to the position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
