The importance of a university senate lies in its ability to foster collaborative decision-making, ensure diverse perspectives are considered, and maintain a balance of power within the institution. By providing a structured mechanism for shared governance, the senate helps create a more inclusive, transparent, and effective university environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES Schedule and coordinate meetings for the Faculty Senate co-chairs, including booking rooms. Maintain and update the co-chairs’ calendars, including scheduling appointments, Zoom links, and invite lists. Assist in organizing and preparing materials for Faculty Senate meetings, including agendas, reports, website and other relevant documents. Manage and organize digital and physical files related to Faculty Senate business. Help maintain the Faculty Senate website or online portal, ensuring information is current and accurate. Assist in coordinating communication between the co-chairs and other Faculty Senate members, university administrators, and relevant stakeholders. Support the co-chairs in preparing reports, presentations, and other documents as needed. Help track and follow up on action items resulting from Faculty Senate meetings. Assist in organizing special events or initiatives led by the Faculty Senate co-chairs. Developing infographics and visualizations for reports and website


WORK MODEHybrid – Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.
HOURLY RATE $16 per hour  Fall and Spring semesters for 5 hours per week (32 weeks), availability Monday mornings 9-10:30am (alternate Wednesdays) for weekly co-chair’s meetings otherwise flexible schedule to accommodate classes Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Currently enrolled student in good academic standing Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Adobe or equal graphic design basics for producing infographics Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving Familiarity with university governance structures (preferred) Preferred Qualifications: Job Family: Office of the Provost Posting Date: 09/06/2024 Closing Date: Open Until Filled No Supplemental Questions
