Position Information Position Information Position Availability: Immediately Position Title: Student Assistant Specialist, United Nations Summer Study (UNSS) Requisition Number: 0406073554 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: SPE/Dean's Office Responsibilities: The UNSS Student Assistant Specialist will be supporting the UNSS Director on the day-to-day administration of UN Summer Study. Work schedule is as follows: November 2024-April 2025 for 10-12 hours/week. May 2025 for 20 hours/week. June 2025-July 2025 for 25-30 hours/week.

Responsibilities1. UNSS Administration and Management: Administrative support for faculty and students engaged in UNSS; Managing UNSS emails and general inquiries; and drafting email correspondence to students and partner organizations; Creating and maintaining multiple databases to process and track applications, program acceptance, and participant requirements, as well as final program numbers; Coordinating application, selection, and admission processes; scheduling and managing UNSS student advising, interview appointments, and debriefing meetings; Providing New School students information and CRNs to the Student Affairs team so that they can grant them permission on Banner to register; Supporting site visit bookings, room reservations, and other organizational issues during the summer semester; Supporting colloquia arrangements and honoraria processing; Maintain UNSS alumni network communications; Track UNSS expenses. 2. UNSS Student Communications: Guiding prospective New School and non-New School UNSS students on program selection, application process, and course registration; Managing communications and reminders for students at every step of the application, selection, and enrollment processes; Ensuring that students submit all required paperwork, fulfill participation requirements, register for courses, and follow up with students that might drop out to convince them to enroll. 3. UNSS Recruitment, Marketing and Communications: Managing and updating content for the UNSS website in close collaboration with Communications staff; Taking a lead role in developing the online presence of the UNSS for marketing and promotional purposes, including subscribing over 40 listservs, posting on 10 international forums and study abroad platforms, and through career services web platforms like Handshake; Recruiting external students by sending promotional campaigns to a list of universities across the US and abroad to (Study Abroad Offices Careers Services Offices, Internship Offices, academic departments); Collaborating with the Communications and Marketing Student Assistant in creating and managing social media advertising campaigns to attract more applicants; Networking with education networks focus on the United Nations system; Creating and distributing documents, electronic flyers, brochures, and promotional materials related to the UNSS and tailored to specific programs prior to important deadlines.
4. UNSS events (on Zoom and in person): Acting as representative of UNSS at information sessions, meetings, and events; Researching and registering for online fairs at external universities via Handshake where The New School can host info sessions for the UNSS; Attending relevant info sessions to learn new marketing techniques; Working with the Events Student worker to schedule and manage UNSS events (on Zoom and in person); Working with the Events Student worker/Student Affairs team to manage room, facilities, AV, catering, and other university system requests; Organize UNSS program events, such as orientation and farewell reception.
5. UNSS student support Assist with student attendance and logistics for site visits; Hold office hours in summer to help visiting students.
6.Other tasks as needed.
Work Mode: On-Campus Position – Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.
Compensation: $18-20/hour.
