Student Assistant Specialist (Health Communications Design Specialist)

Position Availability: Student Health Services’ Wellness and Health Promotion (SHS/WHP)  is seeking a Health  Communications Design Specialist with graphic design and communications design experience.  The candidate must be a New School student with a Federal Work Study (FWS) award as part of their financial aid packet for the academic year 2024-2025. Position Title: Student Assistant Specialist (Health Communications Design Specialist) Requisition Number: 0406073470 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: Stdnt Srvcs/Enrollment Ops Responsibilities: Duties will include but are not limited to: Creation of advertising and outreach which supports the programs and mission of Student Health Services. Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings where your role will be to translate the work and messages into cohesive designs. Option to develop special projects in your wellness area of interest. Format training manuals and presentations. Assist with website and social media  development and content creation.  Train as a Peer Health Advocate (PHA). There is a mandatory PHA training retreat during the Spring 2025 semester. Assist with special projects and events related to the mission of Student Health Services.


Hybrid/Split -This position requires a regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (1x/week) and also works some of the time remotely. This will be coordinated with the supervisor.

Hourly Rate: $21  Minimum Qualifications: Required Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. Knowledge of other software in the adobe creative suite is not necessary, but desired. A well developed aesthetic sense. Ability to adapt designs in various formats for print and web. Ability to take health concepts and information and help design health promotion and communication campaigns influencing knowledge, attitudes and behavior of The New School community. 


Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy. Work on site at Student Health Services, which is a requirement of this position, requires use of a surgical grade mask at all times. Preferred Qualifications: We seek candidates with a strong work ethic, the ability to take initiative, work independently, communicate clearly, respond to emails reliably and meet deadlines. You must be organized, detail-oriented and have a respect for students, staff and faculty of diverse backgrounds. A sense of humor, a great outlook and the ability to have fun while working hard are mandatory.  Helpful to have an interest in health and well being.
