The School of Health Professions Student Assistant (Tutor) provides support to students from a range of multiple disciplines in the Health Professions field. Bridges the gap between the college and the needs of the student. Helps students make academic progress, while promoting independent learning and self-reliance. Keeps track of the students they work with and the nature of the work done with each student.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Assists the Office of Enrollment Management with various data collection and reporting with respect to tutor usage and student progress. Provides academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually. Attends periodic training sessions given by staff members to increase competency in working with students. Maintains records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment. Helps students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying and help students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas.
