United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Product Application Welding Engineer Intern in the Global Product Technology department based at our Technical Center in Munhall, PA. The Welding Engineer-Intern will work under the direction of the Welding Technology Manager to support U. S. Steel’s OEM and Tier Automotive Customers in the use of Advanced High Strength Steels for mass reduction and performance enhancement.  

The student will be integrated into the welding group and contribute to the team by:

Developing improved weld schedules for Advanced High Strength Steels used by the automotive industryStudying the effects of post weld automotive processing parameters, such as paint baking a deformation.Data basing weld studies

This position will provide the student with exposure to various aspects of U.S. Steel’s overall business, as well as interaction with multiple groups within the corporation providing a well-rounded knowledge of the company’s Application Engineering services and automotive customers.

REQUIREMENTS:

Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Welding, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science EngineeringCompletion of sophomore year and be in good academic standingAbility to start work in summer of 2025 and beyondAbility and willingness to work an average of 40 hrs/week during the summer, with an option to work a minimum of 16 hrs/week during non summer monthsContinuation of an acceptable grade point average while participating in the programExcellent communications and interpersonal skills Excellent planning and organization skills Computer literacy to a working skills level - proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
