13026BRJob Description:The External Communications Intern will support U. S. Steel’s Corporate Communications team with development and dissemination of relevant financial and executive communications, along with public relations messaging. This is a remote position that will provide support for a wide array of corporate communications activities. Job Responsibilities Will Include but Are Not Limited To: + Assist in developing and executing PR campaigns. + Help with media relations, including drafting and distributing press releases, responding to media inquiries, and tracking coverage. + Monitor and analyze media coverage and prepare reports on PR activities and outcomes. + Support the development of media pitches, backgrounders, and briefing documents. + Develop financial and sustainability updates, presentations, and other materials. + Conduct analysis around communications strategies and messaging. + Provide support for events and other activities related to executive communications. Requirements: + Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree in journalism, public affairs, communications, marketing or related field. + Applicants must provide writing samples. + Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2025 and be in good academic standing. + Be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. + Available to work remotely 40 hours per week during the summer and at least 12 hours per week during the subsequent fall semester; additional hours possible based on availability. + Be highly familiar with Microsoft Office 365 programs, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams. Preferred Skills: + Motivated self-starters that can work in a fast-paced environment. + Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks, take proactive steps to improve team progress and success. + Manage productive relationships within the team and with clients in a professional, collaborative manner. + Demonstrate competence in managing multiple priorities and projects on tight deadlines while delivering high-quality work. $20-21/hr. This pay rate is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
