Posting Details Posting Information Requisition 202500104ST Title Student Employee-Campus Recreation-Certified Lifeguard-Summer(6 positions) Employee Class Student Worker College Work Study Position No Department Campus Recreation Division Division of Student Affairs Hours per week 6-25 Hiring Rate $11.50 Preferred Student Classification Nature & Purpose of Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the safety and welfare of the patrons and staff in the aquatics facility Aware of all safety policies, regulations, and emergency procedures Familiar with the unique safety concerns of the programs offered in each facility Attentive on the guard stand at all times Efficiently handle any emergency situation as described by the Aquatics Manual Calmly handle any situation that may arise with any patron Act professionally towards co-workers, professional staff, and most importantly, patrons Work closely with other staff members to maintain high efficiency in the aquatics program Be professional in appearance and attitude while on duty Prepare the aquatics facility for opening and/or closing each day Report any maintenance or supply needs to the head guard or the Assistant Director immediately Perform additional tasks assigned by the Head Guards, Graduate Assistant, or Assistant Director On Campus Interviews will be conducted Other Requirements for the Position Qualifications:
Must be a current student at Sam Houston State University enrolled in 6 hours minimum. Must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. Skills Test will be administered. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
