Student Experiences Coordinator Intern

The mission of the ACS Education Division is to serve learners and educators by building communities and providing effective chemistry education products, services, and information. The Division provides programs and services for teachers and students from kindergarten through graduate school. The Student Experiences office oversees Project SEED and Scholars programming, ensuring that both programs achieve annual cycle deliverables, provide professional development and mentorship opportunities for high school through undergraduate students and cross-collaborating with other ACS units and external partners.

 

The position focuses on updating and tracking alumni of Scholars and Project SEED as well as archiving historical perspectives and informational interviews of some long-time mentors and consultants of the programs and helping to make connections between people and programs through social media. Both programs are two of ACS' successful and highly visible programs. Alumni data and perspectives will help inform program initiatives and sustainability efforts and move towards fostering community engagement between alumni groups.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Assists with collecting and archival data on alumni of Project SEED and ACS Scholars through social media, email, and various communication platforms

2. Assists with scheduling and conducting informational interviews of long-time coordinators and mentors of SEED and Scholars

3. Assists with supporting the communication with alumni in regards to SEED and Scholars initiatives and opportunities for community engagement

4. Supports coordination with other units and offices on Alumni and participant engagement and the promotion of opportunities for engagement

 

Education Requirements:

The Ideal candidate will be a rising college senior or pursuing Masters/ PhD in Chemistry, Psychology, or STEM field

 

Required Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a major in Chemistry, Psychology, or STEM field.

Pay Transparency: This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office. The following are the intended hourly rates for this part time/nonexempt role: Rising Junior-$23.00; Rising Senior-$24.00; Current Grad/PhD Student- $27.00.

Any actual offer of employment, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be made in the sole discretion of ACS. ACS reserves the right to amend or modify its employment benefits and compensation structure at any time.

 

*This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, two days per week. Schedule flexibility may be required for this role to support in-office activities. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other three days of the week from a location of their choice.
