Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.

The Section for Health Equity at NYU School of Medicines Department of Population Health is looking to hire a per diem student research intern. This position includes quantitative and qualitative analysis to help with current and future health equity research initiatives focused on assessing organizational readiness staff capacity and feasibility of research program implementation among community based organizations. This position is contingent upon continued availability of grant funds.

Job Responsibilities:

Quantitative research tasks:

Create quantitative surveys and forms for data collection and entry in REDCap databaseAdminister quantitative surveys to relevant people and enter data accordinglyReview data to be entered edits obvious errors and obtains missing information; Suggest changes and additions to established data fields as needed to supervisorLead data cleaning/data analysis using R STATA or other statistical software; interpret and write up results for partnersPrepares requested data summaries thoroughly and accurately for quality improvement and required reporting

Qualitative research tasks:

Conduct qualitative data collection including performing in depth interviews and facilitating focus groupsAssist with qualitative data analysis and synthesis applying inductive and deductive approaches to qualitative analysis as well as mixed methods approaches

Support other aspects of research project implementation or dissemination which may include:

Develop project materials including surveys evaluation tools handouts presentations flyers and other materialsPerform literature searches synthesize current literature and maintain relevant bibliography for the research program and to inform program developmentPrepare presentation materials for lectures and presentation utilizing PowerPointFoster relationships and organize meetings with community based organizations and providers serving priority populations

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program Strong written skills for public health nutrition peer reviewed productsExperience with quantitative research and all steps Background and/or coursework in public health or related researchEffective communication and time management skills ability to work well on multiple projectsAbility to work within a team environment as well as independently Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word Excel Access Power Point and OutlookFamiliar with Internet applications and reference manager software

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual skill in Mandarin Spanish Bangla or Haitian Creole Experience in manuscript writing and history of publications. Qualitative interviewing coding and analysis. Effective and clear communication and strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience working with community based social service organizations. Demonstrated ability to create figures graphs diagrams or other visuals to clearly communicate data ideas and processes.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.50 - $16.50 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
