The work will be challenging, but always rewarding. **It’s Work That Matters.** **Overview** **Purpose Statement/Position Summary:** Under the direction of department leadership, the Student Intern supports strategic initiatives and projects as assigned. Working in collaboration with appropriate strategy, and operational leadership, the Intern leads a strategic project, related to the Samuels Family Latino/a/x and African American High School Internship Program (LA-HIP). This will include but not limited to strategic partnerships, administrative programmatic support, and/or other projects assigned. Leading the strategic project includes engaging appropriate stakeholders, performing analyses, creating relevant business and implementation plans, and presenting a final consulting report to inform leadership. The overall goal of the Samuels Family LA-HIP is to provide students who identify as an underrepresented minority in medicine and science with the opportunity to learn hands-on laboratory-based research and to support them in their quest to become scientists or physician scientists. Eligible students are those who are applying in the Fall of their Junior year of high school, and who have a strong interest in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). We are looking for an intern to support the summer programming for LA-HIP. **Internship to start date June 16th - August 1st.** **Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** Administrative and clerical support experience preferred. + Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. + Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. + Applicants with relevant hospital or managed care experience will be given preference. + Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both verbally and in writing. + Must have strong follow-through, initiative, and the ability to work independently. **Education/Licensure/Certification:** Bachelor’s Degree, preferred. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled and expected to receive an bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field of study of internship program/department from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program. **Pay Scale Information** $21.40-$21.40 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
