Description:

Position Purpose: 

Performs clinical testing of laboratory specimens to provide accurate and reliable data for clinical assessment of patients. Adheres to MercyOne Northeast Iowa's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne Northeast Iowa.

 

What you will Do: 

Obtains proper specimens for testing.

Performs clinical testing of laboratory specimens and reviews data for clinical correlation.

Performs quality control testing on all analyzers and analytes and interprets results.

Troubleshoots instrumentation and assays.

Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit which may include:

Birth – 28 days             Neonate

1 – 18 Months              Infant

18 Months – 3 Years   Toddler

3 – 6 Years                   Preschool-aged

6 – 12 Years                School-aged

12 – 18 Years              Adolescents

18 – 65 Years              Adults

65+ Years                    Geriatric

Hours/Schedule:  

Full Time

10:30 pm to 7 am

36 Hours Per Week

Rotating Weekends and Holidays

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

Associate Degree: Medical Laboratory Technician Program

ASCP eligible and successfully pass certification exam within 6 months of hire or certified Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP. Mandatory Reporter.

Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.

•           Personal computer, database software.

•           Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to be highly organized. Ability to work with multiple, simultaneous tasks and in emergency situations.
