Student Nurse Assistant

Summary

 

The Student Nurse Assistant is responsible for assisting the designated RN Preceptor and additional RNs with care of all age groups within the Standard of Care set by Parkview Health and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. The Student Nurse Assistant, under the direct supervision of the designated RN Preceptor, participates in delegated patient care including vital signs and activities of daily living. This individual shares the responsibility of managing resources, supplies, and equipment within the department, and provides unit-related services as specified by the department.

 

Education

 

Must be a minimum of 17 years of age, and interested in a career in nursing. Prefer current high school students enrolled in, or those who have completed, a health careers occupations program of study. Must not yet be accepted or enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program at a university.

 

Licensure/Certification

 

Current CPR BLS certification required.

 

Experience

 

Previous experience or program of study in direct patient care is preferred (i.e. CNA, PCT, paramedic, military medic, mental health technician, home health aide).

 

Other Qualifications

 

Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work with minimal oversight. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds. Must be able to work 48 hours in a four-week schedule period.
