Purpose

Serve as primary point of contact for the development, implementation and coordination of EOE Program initiatives within four program areas--Recruitment and Outreach, Academics, Research and Graduate Recruiting and Leadership and Professional Development.

Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, and evaluation programs, events, and initiatives. Collect and analyze program data and compare to best practices for undergraduate student success initiatives.

Partner with ESSC staff to lead the development and coordination efforts for programs, activities, and events. Enhance relationships with faculty, staff, alumni and industry to assist with the implementation ESSC initiatives.

Assists with hiring and managing hourly employees, including student assistants, graduate assistants, tutors, and undergraduate research assistants.

Manages the marketing, publicity, and assists with the development of printed materials, brochures, and websites. Contributes to external communications, such as website, newsletter, emails, ESSC news, to students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Coordinate with CSE recruiting on admitted student recruitment/yielding events including facilitating New Student Orientation information sessions.

Interacts and advises student leaders of student organizations. Encourages their involvement as mentors and participants in academic programs. Serves as representative at student organization meetings.

Participate in weekly meetings, retreats, professional development and various other meetings/programs at both the Cockrell School and University levels. Assist with events, programs and other ESSC initiatives as necessary and when needed. Assist with budget management for program area.

Serves as the facilitator for ESSC first-year interest groups in both the fall and spring semester. Assists in developing seminar lesson plans and worksheets based on educational theories and research.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience coordinating or managing student programs.

Experience working with student populations.

Demonstrated ability to serve as a student advocate with empathy in mind.

Demonstrated ability to work in a small work team environment with frequent interruptions and distractions.

Ability to have a positive impact on recruitment, retention and graduation.

Ability to utilize concepts of student development in program planning, counseling, and administrative duties.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, collaborating across units as needed.

Ability to build relationships, and function as a steward and connector.

Demonstrated problem solving abilities and a growth mindset.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years of relevant program management experience.

A self-starter with demonstrated ability to design, implement and supervise student-oriented programs.

Demonstrated ability to oversee day-to-day program operations.

Familiarity with multicultural students' educational issues.

Experience with budgeting, accounting and supervising student workers.

Ability to multi-task in a busy office.

Ability to interact with corporate leaders, university administrators, students, parents, alumni, and associations.

Experience using Adobe and basic web design.

Salary Range

$45,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Work outside of regular business hours is required on a periodic basis, including evenings and weekends.

Travel may be required on a periodic basis.

Work Shift

Standard work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

Periodic work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required on a periodic basis.
