Student Resource Center Specialist

The Office of Medical Education in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks an Education and Outreach Specialist to complement the existing team and provide support to the Student Resource Center (SRC).

The SRC houses the Director of Academic Enhancement, Medical Education Learning Specialist, Director of Medical Student Wellbeing, Director of Teaching Assistant Training Program, and works cooperatively with Staff Psychotherapist at the School of Medicine. The Student Resource Center Specialist works closely with the faculty and administrative leadership of the SRC to support the health, wellness, and academic success of MD students.

The SRC Specialist is responsible for the development, delivery, administration, and evaluation of educational programs. The SRC Specialist performs all the duties of an Education and Outreach Coordinator and operates with additional authority, independence, or level of complexity. Education and Outreach Specialists are accountable for the success of the educational programs they administer and ensuring that their programs fulfill the overall goal or vision of the organization.

Typical duties include:

Manage the day-to-day operations of the SRC

Serve as a primary point of contact for students, supporting a welcoming and safe environment.

Provide administrative support for faculty/programs

Inventory and order office and reception supplies

Coordinate/work with internal service providers (e.g., IT, FM, PCS, etc.)

Set up and maintain SRC Lending Library

Maintain calendar for shared spaces

Provide programmatic support for faculty/programs, including (but not limited to):

TA Training Program (administer application processes and support review committee, streamline/implement proposal process, track requirements)

Wellness Program (administrative & programmatic support for Wellness events, Wellness months, and steering committee)

Academic Enhancement Program (report on grade data and trends, track remediation efforts, coordinate remediation exams)

Fiscal Support for Academic Enhancement Cost Center:

Serve as Cost Center Fiscal Specialist, Project Budget Specialist, and Purchaser

Procure programmatic materials and supplies, setting and maintaining appropriate budget documentation.

Prepare and submit account certifications and accounting adjustments (as needed)

Prepare and submit Expense Reports on behalf of program and supported faculty/staff

Prepare and submit budget proposal for Student Resource Center and associated programs

Serve as subject matter expert on finance processes for center and more broadly within Office of Medical Education

Conceptualize, develop, and facilitate new offerings and programs, in alignment with overall strategic vision of the organization.

Conceptualize and develop new outreach initiatives, retreats, and events that serve the organization's target audiences.

Design marketing materials and plan promotional activities related to programmatic offerings.

Plan resources to meet organizational aims, including scheduling departmental staff and program volunteers.

Design program evaluation, monitor feedback, and incorporate suggestions for improvement.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Anticipated hiring range: $50,000-60,000. This is an exempt level, full-time, benefited position.

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule and may occasionally require working some evening hours in support of programmatic events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree required. Additional experience will be required in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Two years of experience required with a Bachelor's degree. Six years of experience required with a High School degree or equivalent.
Licensure: None.

PREFERENCES

Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: Experience working in higher education, preferably in an academic health care institution and supporting medical education programs/curriculum is preferred. Proficiency in VMED, OASIS, Teams, and Workday are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
