Student Respiratory Care Assistant
The Student Respiratory Care Assistant serves as an intricate member of the healthcare team at Cone Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system. The Student Respiratory Care utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Student Respiratory Care accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies, procedures, and license.

The Student Respiratory Care should be able to perform the following under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Practitioner:
Manages invasive/non-invasive ventilators
Performs routine therapy modalities
Processes blood gases
Performs advanced therapy modalities
Completes required documentation
Monitors and maintains department supply levels/equipment
Exhibits Department Engagement
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION:Required:
Enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care Associate Degree program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care with a minimum 2.0 GPA
EXPERIENCE:Required:
One year required. Completed 1st year of Respiratory Care Associate Degree Program. Demonstrated competencies verified by the educational institution for the procedures defined in the revised declaratory ruling by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board.
Educational institution must verify competency in the following Respiratory care Procedures:
?\tOxygen therapy systems
?\tEquipment processing
?\tManual resuscitation oxygen administration
?\tHumidity and aerosol therapy
?\tSmall volume nebulizer therapy
?\tMDI administration
?\tIncentive spirometry
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:
Registration as an RCA with the NC Respiratory Care Board
BLS required.
Preferred:
ACLS, PALS, NRP.
