Position Information Position Information Position Availability: Position Title: Student Social Media Content Producer, Marketing and Communications Requisition Number: 0406073560 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: CA/Marketing & Communication Responsibilities: The New School’s Marketing and Communication (M&C) seeks a creative student to assist the Digital Engagement department. At Digital Engagement, we are responsible for coordinating, managing, and producing video and photography for the university’s main social media channels. The student assistant will work under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Digital Engagement with the main functions of photo and video capturing and editing, collaborating on social media strategy, and assisting with production of high-profile events.
This is a great opportunity for a social media-savvy and creative student to work in a professional environment elevating The New School’s online presence by highlighting what makes the university unique. You will collaborate with our team to develop social media content and series, work as a photographer and videographer, and edit content, which will provide you with experience in the in-demand skills of digital production. M&C places a high value on the talents, knowledge and ideas of our student assistants in a very tangible and meaningful way.
The Student Assistant and the Senior Manager of Digital Engagement will work out a schedule that is conducive to both, but one that can be flexible depending on the academic calendar and the team need. Applicants should anticipate working up to 15 hours per week. Applicants need to maintain a reasonable but dedicated schedule and preferably have the ability to commit to at least one year in the position.

Responsibilities: Assist staff member (with potential grow to lead) in photo and video shoots for M&C social content Edit photographs in Photoshop Edit graphics in Adobe InDesign or Canva Edit videography in Adobe Premiere Pro Assist with the digital process of photography, video, and work release forms Developing ideas on what content to create for social media Other tasks as assigned
Work ModeHybrid/Split – Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.
Wage Range
Payment is $18/hour, commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level.
