Yes Job Summary The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Student Success Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position. The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate the recruitment events, student ambassadors, and scholarship operations of the College of Liberal Arts ( CLA ) Student Services department. This position will plan and monitor these events by department goals to ensure that they align with the College’s strategic plan. This position interacts with internal and external constituents. This position establishes processes and interprets university policies; provides data retrieval and provides supervision for the CLA student ambassadors, including formal hiring/discipline, onboarding, timecards . This position is actively engaged in planning, organizing and delivering a variety of events each year for current and prospective students. The position requires expert knowledge in training and development of student workers, the ability to access student information, data retrieval and document imaging systems. Event planning skills include idea generation, project management and evaluation of events. Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, written and oral are necessary, as well as the ability to motivate and encourage. Multi-tasking, flexibility and professional poise are necessary. Key Responsibilities 35% Recruitment Events and Orientation Program + Event planning and coordination for all internal recruitment events + Event planning and coordination for all external recruitment events. + Budgeting for events and reconciling, fiscal responsibility for ensuring costs are managed. + Collaborates with Head Advisor and Assistant Dean on Orientation programs, from marketing to execution + Works with marketing vendors internally and externally to develop materials for the unit 30% Student Ambassadors + Interviews and hires, responsible for onboarding of College of Liberal Arts ambassadors who represent the college at events and functions year round + Supervises the ambassadors, approves timecards and handles issues related to discipline/firing. + Assigns lead work to the Administrative Program Assistant regarding work schedules and assignments for the ambassadors + Responsible budget authority for ambassadors in relation to hiring, pay, raises, and programs for ambassador development + Responsible for developing, executing and evaluating and ongoing training program for the ambassadors which includes the processes and procedures of the job function, but also helps to develop skills such as public speaking, presenting, planning and running events, project management for example. 25% Scholarships + Works with the Assistant Dean, OSU Foundation, and an academic advisor in development of a college-wide strategy for scholarships, including developing clear processes and procedures, connecting with potential donors, recruitment of applications and disbursement of scholarships + Handles highly sensitive and critical information in relations to management of CLA scholarships + Handles sensitive issues and works to facilitate effective resolutions 10% Other duties as assigned. Examples include: + Support the Assistant Dean with various events and projects to impact student success. + Participate in college and university committees or work groups as appropriate and approved by supervisor. + Participate in professional development opportunities as available. + Encourage and participate in activities that foster an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive and fosters a sense of belonging for both student and co-workers. What You Will Need + Bachelor’s degree in discipline of choice. + Experience working in a Liberal Arts area of knowledge of Liberal Arts. + 3 years’ experience working with college students + Strong communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal, and a demonstrated ability to communicate successfully and inclusively, both in writing and verbally with a diverse audience. + Experience with event planning, including planning, organizing and executing events successfully. + Ability to handle stressful situations and remain effective and professional. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. Because of deadlines of the university and this office, this position must work under demands of heavy volume and fluctuating workloads during specific times of the term and year. The employee in this position must be available during peak periods such as beginning and end of terms.
