Student Web Intern

OVERVIEW
Job Summary:
The Marketing, Insights and Communication Web team is looking to hire a paid student web marketing intern. This position would require the student to assist the Web team with a variety of website related tasks, including:
+ Strategy & research (site audits, analytics, benchmarking)
+ Information Architecture
+ Quality Assurance
+ Web content management
+ Accessibility
+ Usability and layout (UI/UX)
This position is ideal for those interested in learning more about website administration, design and digital communications.
This position will start in Fall with the expectation that the intern will work 20-40 hours a week during J-Term and continue into the Spring. This position also has Summer 2025 availability. During the academic year, this position is for 10 hours a week during normal business hours, Monday through Friday with flexibility around applicant’s schedule.
Essential Functions:
This position fills an important role on the web team, creating and maintaining content on both the internal (OneStThomas) and external (stthomas.edu) websites.
Depending on interest and qualifications, interns may build pages, find the perfect image, develop content for the web and write some html code.
Ensure a high standard of work is maintained through quality assurance tests.
Coordinate with Project Manager on web projects including identifying partner needs, scope and completing project tasks.
Use the university Content Management Systems (CMS).
Assist the MIC Web Team to meet department goals and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Students should have an interest in websites or digital communication.
Students who have filled this role in the past have been computer science, data analytics, communication studies and digital media arts majors. If you are interested in learning more about building, maintaining and using websites strategically, this may be the position for you.
We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, eager to learn about the web world and open to feedback.
Ideal candidates should be self-starters who possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and general knowledge of the internet.
Experience building websites, writing HTML or CSS is preferred but not required.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
