Student Worker Program - Battery System Modeling Engineer

Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up, breakthrough electric vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. Being on the Ford Model E team means building the future as Ford’s center of innovation and growth through electric and connected vehicles and services.

The electronics packaging mechanical engineer will develop solutions that integrate next-gen electromechanical hardware into a variety of vehicle subassemblies. You will be responsible for turning product requirements and system topologies into physical design solutions. You will lead prototyping and evaluation activities of new technologies in each stage of development including subassembly and full vehicle builds.

What you’ll be able to do:

Design prototype parts and assemblies that facilitate vehicle electronics development including test fixtures, sensor and antenna brackets, and harness guides  Collaborate with electrical, software, and other teams to support vehicle testing  Contribute to vehicle architecture discussions by identifying packaging constraints and opportunities for different vehicle configurations  Lead prototyping and concept testing of electromechanical parts and assemblies  Ensure the reliable function of devices by considering environmental and mechanical loads  Hands-on prototyping and debugging of development vehicles  Support prototype hardware configuration management and fleet retrofit planning  Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams to mature and deliver optimal hardware solutions
