Student Worker Program - Range & Performance Systems Engineer

Join our Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) team for a 6-month Student Worker Program and help build the future of mobility! Immerse yourself in Ford's center of innovation and growth, working alongside top engineering, design, and software talent to create groundbreaking EVs and contribute to key technologies like batteries, charging, and recycling. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact on the automotive industry. 

 The minimum requirements we seek: 

B.S. in Aerodynamics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field  High proficiency in Python/Matlab, or other programming languages commonly used in engineering  Experience with JIRA/Confluence or a similar system for tracking inputs/results  Demonstrated ability to develop models for physical systems based on first principles 

Preferred Requirements: 

Masters or PhD Aerodynamics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field  Experience with modeling physical systems, vehicles or dynamics  Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications  Strong written and verbal communication skills  An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team  A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement

What you’ll be able to do: 

Create and modify tools of different fidelity for range and performance prediction  Improve and maintain CI/CD pipeline with Github and Git Actions  Create tools for system and vehicle level cost/performance trade-offs  Assess platform-level optimization and collaborate with cross-functional team to deliver  Run sensitivity analyses to understand the design space and tradeoffs  Create vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight and more  Contribute to design reviews, test plans, and requirements reviews to further optimize vehicle efficiency and performance cross functionally  Enable effective communications with subsystems and other engineering teams to deliver optimal design solutions
