In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. JOB DESCRIPTION

WTTG/WDCA – Studio Technician / Master Control Operator (Per Diem Part-Time)

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is looking for a part-time Studio Technician/Master Control Operator to join our engineering team. FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is part of Fox Corporation and Fox Television Stations, world leading and valued media brands, airing the most hours of original programming in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia local television market. If you have experience with floor directing, live production broadcast equipment, and studio operations this may be the perfect job for you. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, focus on delivering high quality newscasts to local viewers, and is a leader in the news production environment.

Responsibilities: Work in a fast-paced, live production control room and studio. Fill a variety of production roles and help prep material for broadcasts. Provide operations support for newscasts and network programming. Perform functions including, but not limited to, technical director, master control operator, audio operator, robotic camera, and/or floor director. Operate automated playout systems, master control switches, non-linear editing software, and other production support equipment. Take direction, think critically under pressure, and work professionally as part of a cohesive team within specific time constraints. Friendly, respectful and collaborative. Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent communication skills. Interact effectively and professionally with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. Vocational/technical school, associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 3 years recent experience in the broadcast technician, master control, and news environment in a medium to major size market is required. Ability to operate live broadcast production equipment. Solid understanding of live production environments, specifically news production, is required. Experience with automated control room environments is a plus. Must be able to sit and stand for an extended period. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Must be able to reach overhead, bend, squat and kneel.

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Candidates must have flexibility in scheduling evenings, early mornings, weekends as well as working all shifts in a 24/7/365 breaking news environment. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and varied hours. Candidate will also be required to join the I.A.T.S.E Local 819 union. This position will be for no less than two weeks, with no end date determined at this time.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $30.41-55.40 per hour. We provide medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
