Subcontracting Specialist/Estimator

We are excited with all that the future holds for our industry, planet, and communities. Ameresco’s Federal & Utility Solutions Team is seeking a Subcontracting Specialist/Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for identifying subcontractors for bid participation, building relationships with existing contractors, and engaging national contractors to integrate them into Ameresco’s bidding process. It also involves scheduling regular touchpoints with Ameresco leadership and existing, potential, and underperforming subcontractors. We are actively seeking subcontracting partners for project execution across the country, including Alaska and Hawaii. Additionally, this role involves facilitating the migration of subcontractors to the Compass platform for prequalification and establishing workflows and evaluations to mitigate risks and strengthen our subcontractor pool. As part of your responsibilities, you will also evaluate proposals and develop estimates using historical data and database models. This position is based in our Knoxville office and offers a hybrid work arrangement (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) after an agreed-upon development period. Responsibilities: + Identify and establish contact with subcontractors across the US and US Territories. + Develop relationships with contractors and setup regular contact points. + Facilitate meetings and opportunities for face-to-face communications. + Coach subcontractors through the Compass prequalification process. + Support contractors through accessing and participating in bids via Procore. + Incorporate feedback from project managers and workflow decision makers into Compass records for process improvement and development opportunities. + Evaluate and provide feedback to subcontractors on submitted proposals. + Schedule, prepare, and lead debriefing of unsuccessful bidders on issues and opportunities. + Aide in identification and utilization of small business contractors. + Management of small business data collection and alignment to support reporting. + Aide in the breakdown of scopes into work packages/bid forms to make work more attractive and improve subcontractor participation. + Research bond markets and trends in application of surety to help establish and modify strategy. + Prepare comparative estimates and rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates using RS Means and other data sets. + Manage 3rd party estimating firms in developing ROM and comparative estimates. + Aide in the development, solicitation, management, evaluation, and awarding of requests for proposals. + Aide in the answering and management of requests for information and addendums to requests for proposals. + Aide in the scheduling and management of post bid interviews and processes. + Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience. + Minimum of 2 years of construction field, sales engineering, or similar experience. + Ability to review confidential US security information. Additional Requirements: + Ability to travel as required. + Experience reading and interpreting specifications and contracts to identify actionable requirements preferred. + Field experience in procurement, field engineering, or project controls preferred. + Estimating experience preferred. + Computer software proficiency including the ability to become proficient with Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Procore, RS Means (or other estimating tools), and government/client applications preferred. + Ability to read prints and schematics preferred. + Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow through on assignments independently. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort initiating contacts and introductions. + Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage paper and electronic documentation effectively. + Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while fostering positive business relationships. + Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes, including the development and adoption of technology solutions for process enhancement. #LI-AWS #LI-Hybrid AMERESCO challenges the brightest, most talented and creative individuals in the industry by providing an environment that embraces initiative, diversity, and achievement along with comprehensive rewards, including people-oriented insurance, investment, and incentive plans.
