The Subcontracts Administrator is responsible for performing the full range of procurement and administration activities associated with the subcontracting process for construction projects to enable the successful execution of projects. This includes qualifying suppliers, issuing requests for quotations, evaluating proposals, awarding and maintaining subcontract records in accordance with company procedures. As a lead for an assigned project, you will work to ensure all project items regarding subcontracts are identified and addressed from project award to close.
JOB DUTIES:
Subcontractor Selection: Identify and evaluate potential subcontractors, conduct pre-qualification assessments, and participate in the bidder selection process to meet project requirements. Bid Solicitation and Evaluation: Facilitate the development of bid packages. Evaluate and recommend bidders based on technical capabilities, cost, quality, and safety considerations. Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contract terms and conditions, including scope of work, pricing, milestones, and deliverables in compliance with company policies. Field Coordination: Coordinate the mobilization and interfaces with construction to minimize field disruptions to progress. Contract Administration: Administer subcontract agreements over projects, receiving deliverables, issuing change orders and processing invoices. Vendor Performance: Monitor subcontractor performance, schedule adherence, and quality of work. Take corrective actions when necessary to ensure project goals are met. Risk Management: Administrate potential risks associated with subcontractors, including safety, financial, and legal risks. Cost Control: Administrate and track subcontractor costs, monitoring progress and budget. Compliance: Administrate subcontractors' adherence to safety, quality, environmental, and project requirements. Reporting: Facilitate submission of project reports on subcontracting activities, cost performance, and risk assessments for management Some cross functional activities with Procurement may be required to support project needs. Experience: 8 years of experience in subcontracting administration in the heavy construction industry. Construction Knowledge: Understanding of industrial construction practices, processes, and terminology, to understand Scopes of Work. Contract Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate contracts and change with subcontractors. Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Good problem-solving and analytical skills to identify risk, develop mitigation strategies and administration change. Communication and Leadership: Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to lead teams on Project. Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, and project controls. Detail Orientation: Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in contract documents, bid evaluation, and performance monitoring. Computer Proficiency: Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools to administrate subcontractor activities and facilitate the submission of reports.PREFERRED:
Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, supply chain or a related field. Subcontract Coordination: Experience coordinating field activities of construction and/ or subcontractor activities.
