Aecon is seeking a Subcontracts Coordinator to join our transformative Elevated Guideway project located in Toronto.  Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Subcontracts Coordinator is responsible for all subcontract related matters.

 

What You'll Do Here:

Responsible for maintaining all subcontract documents, tracking all contractual related issues, drafting of letters to subcontractors and management of subcontract changes and claims Reviews existing subcontracts and agreements to ensure compliance is maintained Develops and manages comprehensive design and construction claims or responds to subcontractor claims, as necessary Liaise with corporate legal, as required and acts as the point person for legal issues on behalf of the project team Communicates with other members of the project team to put in place contract management best practices Manages the financial considerations around change orders and claims. Supports in negotiating and closing out open changes and claims. Maintains reports and logs on all subcontract changes, claims, invoicing and correspondence. Report status of current subcontract process to management Responsible for the progress payment application and monthly invoicing process with subcontractors Coordinate the subcontract process with Finance, Construction, Project Coordinators, Project Controls, Attorneys and Consultants Advise project teams on contractual requirements for construction, and potential legal implications Monitor all aspects of subcontract and insurance compliance Facilitate the implementation of business specific contracts for services and/or materials and construction subcontracts                

What You Bring to the Team:

5+ years’ experience within a commercial department in the construction industry. Major construction projects experience considered an asset Knowledge of fundamentals of contract law, negotiating business agreements, and laws of requesting tenders, proposals, and quotations Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment Experience working with Unit Rate, Lump Sum, Cost Reimbursable or Time and Material type subcontracts Ability to work effectively within a team environment and be service oriented Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry, vendors and internal clients Strong negotiation skills and experience taking part in negotiations Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products Attention to detail, mathematical and analytical skills Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) Experience with SAP considered an asset Degree in business, engineering, quantity surveying, law preferred
